Sparks Fly Collection
Human spirit and Rx award-winning medical writer and children's book author Janine Santé of Santé Wellness LLC applies hobby, career, and rehabilitation science to make tools that promote healthy connections and boost creativity. Picture book Why Sparks Won't Fly (2022, 2026) features mindfulness as it celebrates friendship between very different creatures. A Monster of a Problem (2025), coauthored by Janine Santé and Christina Evans, was inspired by sidewalk graffiti of three-toed footprints discovered during rehabilitation after a disabling accident.
The interactive board game Help Sparks Fly™️ incorporates skills derived from rehabilitative sciences that satisfy a number of therapeutic objectives:
- Provides stress relief
- Sparks creativity
- Helps players practice interpersonal skills together
- Requires practice conducting personal check-ins in the presence of others without risking vulnerability
- Encourages human connection
It also fulfills a promise to a fellow client in our final phase of rehabilitation, trauma therapy. Delighted by the skills we were learning in 3Q 2022, an enthusiastic participant exclaimed, "We should all learn this in Kindergarten!" Janine decided that was confirmation from the universe to make a game.
Help Sparks Fly™️ has been in clinical testing and use in ages 6 to 89 years since October 2023 in the Northeastern US. It is embraced by leaders in violence prevention and mental health advocacy as can be seen in the News from the Team tab on helpsparksflyforkids.com. Sparks are flying for people in a growing number of states and we are proud to support organizations that assist survivors of violence with our works.
